Maoming Base

Oriental Energy (Maoming) Co., Ltd. currently operates a 600,000-ton-per-year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit, a 400,000-ton-per-year polypropylene (PP) unit, and a 200,000-ton-per-year synthetic ammonia unit, and possesses supporting storage areas, two 50,000 GT liquefied hydrocarbon berths, offshore pipe racks, and other utility and auxiliary facilities.

The PDH unit employs a novel low hydrogen-to-hydrocarbon ratio process technology, with raw material consumption significantly below the industry average. The synthetic ammonia unit utilizes the patented CASALE process package technology from Switzerland and commenced trial production in October 2024. It is currently the only synthetic ammonia facility in Guangdong Province.

The three major units, since commissioning, have maintained long-term stable operation, with process parameters remaining stable and controllable. All safety and environmental protection indicators have consistently met the required standards.

Oriental Energy has been steadfastly making innovation on the path to exploring sustainable development. In 2022, Oriental Energy and China National Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., leveraging their resource endowments and adhering to the principle of "establishing before transforming" , reached a consensus: to jointly build a zero-carbon industrial park in Maoming, aligned with the national goals of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality". The both parties aim to break through the EU CBAM barriers, promote the integrated development of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors and the petrochemical industry, jointly develop high-molecular materials and the hydrogen energy industry, and build a stable, green, independent, and affordable power source, exploring new paths for energy security. Additionally, they planned to jointly research hydrogen production with high-temperature gas-cooled reactor, attempt distributed hydrogen production, and pursue the realization of future energy solutions. They also agreed to establish an industrial fund, take mutual equity stakes, and set an example for cooperation between state-owned and private enterprises, achieving new breakthroughs in China's economic development and continuously shaping new dynamics and advantages. In October 2022, the two parties jointly established “CNNC Oriental Maoming Green Energy Co., Ltd.” and they have supported each other on this fertile land in Maoming, achieving one goal after another and making new breakthroughs.

On May 21, 2024, a ten-thousand-ton T1000 carbon fiber production line with independent IPR commenced construction at the Maoming base, and is scheduled to be completed by 2025. This project fills a technological gap both at home and abroad, showcasing the company's innovative capabilities. The project also injects new momentum into strategic emerging industries in Guangdong, making a demonstration of synergistic growth between enterprise development and regional economy. The project focuses on advancing polypropylene + carbon fiber composite materials, driving the extension of industrial chain value. By establishing a zero-carbon industrial park centered on the carbon fiber industry in Maoming, Guangdong, it aims to promote local industrial upgrading.
