‌Leading the Materials Revolution: Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene Prepreg Preparation and Application Technology Development Project Officially Launched

The Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene (CF/PP) Prepreg Preparation and Application Technology Development Project was officially launched at the Nanjing.

As a new generation of thermoplastic composites, CF/PP combines the high strength of carbon fiber with the moldability, corrosion resistance, and environmental benefits of polypropylene. It is an ideal alternative to traditional metals and thermosetting materials, representing a crucial direction for the future of green, low-carbon material development.

The company has established a complete industrial chain from laboratory research to mass production. By modifying polypropylene resin and developing eco-friendly thermoplastic sizing agents, the project innovatively introduces a "high-compatibility polypropylene resin matrix" and "low-damage carbon fiber surface treatment technology." Additionally, through advanced impregnation processes, interface optimization techniques, and continuous production equipment, the project overcomes key technical challenges such as poor compatibility between carbon fiber and polypropylene matrix and low prepreg molding efficiency. These advancements enhance impregnation effects, strengthen the interfacial bonding between the polypropylene matrix and carbon fiber, and increase the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of the composite material to over 30 MPa.

The company is also expanding application scenarios, accelerating the validation and large-scale application of CF/PP materials in areas such as new energy vehicle chassis, wind turbine blade core materials, and structural components for electronic devices.
