Recently, an invention patent named “A Sizing Agent for Carbon Fiber Modification, Its Preparation Method, and Application” has officially entered the substantive examination stage (in accordance with the patent application process).
This technology addresses the long-standing issue of insufficient interfacial bonding strength in polypropylene (PP)-based composite materials. Through an innovative sizing agent formulation and process design, it achieves a 30%+ increase in interlaminar shear strength between carbon fibers and the PP matrix (based on test data from embodiments), overcoming a critical barrier for lightweight materials in automotive, aerospace, and other industries.
The sizing agent provided in this invention features low volatility, enhanced stability, and minimal environmental impact, as it generates no waste gas, wastewater, or solid waste during preparation and application. Additionally, it is cost-effective, easy to produce, and poses minimal harm to both the environment and human health.
